John Bottomley was awarded the Joe Kane Distinguished Service Award at the New Hampshire Golf Hall of Fame Ceremony held at Manchester Country Club on November 7, 2024. John is an active member of Abenaqui Country Club where he has been a member for over 30 years and also served as President.
Bottomley has served on the Board of Directors of the New Hampshire Golf Association and was President of the organization in 1991 and 1992. He was instrumental in establishing the state’s Mid-Amateur Championship. Over the years he has continued to volunteer with the NHGA and continues to give back to the game as he serves on the Advisory Council of the First Tee – New Hampshire. John also served many years on the Board of Directors of the McDonough Scholarship Foundation and rose to the title of President, continuing the efforts of the organization, providing scholarships to golf course employees across the state.
John embodies all the qualities of Joe Kane and has given much of his time bettering golf in the Granite State.
The New Hampshire Golf Hall of Fame is dedicated to the preservation of golf’s history in the Granite State. It is a way to honor deserving men and women who have made an impact on golf in New Hampshire either through amateur golf achievements, professional golf accomplishments, or contributions to the game in a non-playing capacity.
